Frequently Asked Questions
What happened with the Indiegogo Campaign?
Our time-limited Indiegogo campaigns validated demand for the CoinGradr, generating more than $126,000 in machine orders from over 130 backers in 90 days. However, we did not reach the funding threshold needed to begin production. We are now transitioning to direct sales through our Shopify website, where orders will accumulate and count toward our goal of 200 machines needed to move into production and bring the CoinGradr to our supporters.
If I pre-order, when will I get my machine?
We plan to secure 200 pre-orders before charging customers and moving into the next phase of production. Once we reach that 200-order milestone, we will process payments. We anticipate needing approximately two additional months after we receive payment before we can begin shipping CoinGradr machines. During the Pre-Order process, we will vault your Credit Card Information until we reach our 200-unit goal. Once the goal is met, we will send you a pre-charge notification email. During the Pre-order process, you can cancel your order for any reason at no charge.
How do I set up my Computer Coin Grading Machine?
The CoinGradr was designed and built as an intuitive IoT device. Basically, it is the size of a big shoebox, standing on its end. It has a 12V power converter that plugs into its back panel and connects to a 120V AC power outlet in your house or office. It comes with instructions that will guide you through warranty registration and setting up your QCG dashboard interface. It will also provide instructions to establish your Bluetooth connection between your mobile, tablet, or computer and the CoinGradr. You will then use the Bluetooth connection to establish the connection between the CoinGradr and your WiFi Router. The WiFi CoinGradr connection is only done once, just like your smart TV.
How long does it take to get my Coin Grading Report?
The CoinGradr takes a minimum of 24 images per coin. It will take approximately 3 min to capture all those images. Once those images are captured, they are sent to the cloud for processing and analysis, upon completion of the image capture you can start scanning your next coin. As for the Digital Fingerprint report, it will take between 5 and 10 minutes for you to receive through your email account once the images have been captured. Total time 15 minutes guaranteed.
Do I need to have a service subscription to use the machine?
We get this question a lot, and the best way we can answer is to think of the CoinGradr, like a Kuerig coffee maker. Put it on the counter or desk and when you want to scan a coin you pay for the service by coin or by volume. We do offer different ways that you can participate with the machine based on your use, thereby minimizing your exposure to unnecessary fees.
What type of coins can I grade using the machine?
As for the design of the machine, it will accommodate a 60mm coin. However, to start, we decided to concentrate on business strike coins minted in the USA since the 1792 Coinage Act. As you are aware, there are 133 sub-series coins during this time, with 15 different denominations, and 23 major distinct dimensions. Initially, the machine will be shipped, supporting five basic recipes to quantitatively grade out coins: the Lincoln Wheat, Buffalo Nickel, Mercury Dime, Washington Quarter, Kennedy Half, and the Morgan Dollar. The goal is to release 3 to 7 new recipes each month of the 133 sub-series. The machine will also come with 7 centering disks for specific coin sub-series. The seven disks that will come with the CoinGradr initially, include; 17.9 mm, accommodating the Nickel Three Cent and Modern Dime, 19.0 mm, accommodating the small cent, Flying Eagle, Indian Head, and Lincoln, 21.2 mm, for the standard Nickel, Liberty, Buffalo, Jefferson, 24.3 mm accommodating the standard Quarter, Seated Liberty through the Modern Washington, 26.5 mm for the Modern Dollar, Susan B. Anthony, Sacagawea, and Presidential, 30.6 mm for the Half Dollar, Seated Liberty through Kennedy, and 38.1 mm covering the standard large dollar, Seated, Morgan, Peace, and Eisenhower. As for new coin recipes that are not covered by the 7 disks, those disks will become available at a nominal fee before the recipes are released.
What is my return on investment using the OCS200 CoinGradr in helping me determine the value of my collection?
We do understand the concern about the cost. However, technology is not cheap, and when you run the Return on Investment numbers, it is a very cost-effective solution. Again, just to give you some insight, industrial machine vision systems run anywhere from $30K to $150K. Just to give you a brief, crude overview of our costs, CoinGradr cost Pro Forma. As you can see, by offering the CoinGradr at $795, with three months of a premium subscription, is one heck of a deal; even at $995 just for the machine, it’s a bargain.
