Using Advanced Image Analysis to Determine a Sheldon Grade
Image Capture is performed in our light-tight chamber, which features four different light sources. The coin type determines the intensity of each light source and image capture location. Based on the specific Sheldon Grade criteria, a minimum of 28 images is taken per coin in approximately 3 minutes. Each image capture result is compared to an empirical database based on the specific type of coin, series, and mint location. Criteria are then weighted based on the N.C.I. grading methodology, written by Jim Halperin in 1986, to determine the Sheldon Grade. Numeric values and weighted analysis are provided for each business strike coin circulated or uncirculated within 15 minutes of image capture.

QCG offers a simple and intuitive coin grading process that can be done anywhere you have the machine, a Bluetooth-enabled mobile device, and access to the internet. Our process will increase access to coin grading to all collectors!
Once you get your machine, register it for warranty and create a QCG account. Identify your service preference, pay per coin scan or a monthly subscription. If you select pay as you go, you can add funds to your digital wallet account (from $5 to $100). Funds in your digital wallet are refundable. Each time you scan a coin, you will be charged a grading service fee based on the value of the coin (min $0.20, max $10.00 per coin). Place your coin on the self-centering platform and follow the instructions on your Bluetooth device. Light indicators on the CoinGradr will guide you through a 3-minute grading process (per coin). Once your coin is scanned and removed, everything else is automatic. You will receive your FingerPrint Report, with a quantitative Sheldon grade and estimated value of your scanned coin, sent to your email in 15 minutes, guaranteed! You will then see our newly graded coin appear in your digital portfolio. If your preference is our monthly subscription model, which is paid monthly or yearly at the time of service. You can scan as many coins as you want for one set fee. This service does not include database image recall or estimated marketplace value.

Our device grades coins on a 70-point scale, ranging from poor (P-1) to perfect mint state (MS-70), in accordance with the Sheldon Scale. Each inspection is documented in a digital report accessible in your account. Our report includes a Quantitative Sheldon Grade, along with its estimated value based on the latest internet pricing guides.
Manage Your Collection On-The-Go
Managing inventory is easy with our web app, which features our QR Code recall. Scanning a coin automatically records it in your customer account and stores it for immediate review. Inspection images are publicly available through each coin QR Code. Users can access our database, inspection criteria, and traceability information on our website.
